Because they’re worth it: “Welsh Dragons” RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services join the BuildForce Alliance

RDM are proud to have signed the Buildforce Charter and become a partner of the Buildforce Alliance. Buildforce is a nationwide initiative, designed as a mutually beneficial collaboration between ex-military service personnel and organisations within the construction industry.

With over 30 years industry expertise and a very close working relationship with the Defence Sector, RDM has purposefully challenged itself to build on the great work that is already doing supporting the needs of service leavers and veterans.

RDM’s objective is to inspire, mentor and support veterans as they transition into new careers in construction or within the sectors that are currently being developed within our Group of Companies, as well as the wider construction industry and leading trading bodies.

BuildForce recognises and welcomes RDMs strategic advice and support to help recruits to navigate their way through the construction industry and build a new chapter in their lives and careers, both now and in the future. Recruits should have informed options to consider and RDM recognises that the ex-forces community have a plethora of hidden skills, talents, knowledge, and competencies. It is our objective to do whatever we can to help and match their skills and abilities to the opportunities available.

Dave Kieft, RDM said:

“By having veterans in both my close personal and business network I have a very good understanding of how veterans think and act, and unfortunately, some have been given training that has little or no career value and no job prospects.

“Ensuring industry recognised and valued training is delivered with sectoral need is imperative, and we have focussed our time and efforts to date on filling the gaps. Initiative’s that I am are aware of and working on, are raising awareness and will create thousands of new jobs over the next 20 years. The cross-section of skills and expertise required are very closely aligned with our armed Forces Community. “We’ve invested in one initiative in-particular, BSI PAS 3003, a world-first code of practice being launched in July 2021 that is ideal for recruits. I look forward to working with everyone on this important new British Standard which is acting as an interface between academia, government and industry, and is creating the opportunities of the future.”

Caroline Logan, BuildForce programme director, added:

“We are delighted RDM has signed the BuildForce charter as a pledge of their support to our programme and our wider Armed Forces community. We look forward to working together and opening up further opportunities for our military personnel.”
